Sunday, January 29 @ 10:00 AM - 5th Sunday of the month means Celebration Sunday!  All music service with no preaching and potluck after.  Music will feature a potpourri of church music from way back in the day and around the world, all the way up to today's contemporary praise and worship!

Remember, this Sunday is the fifth Sunday of the month which means we'll have Potluck Lunch in the Fellowship Hall immediately after our 10:00 AM. 

Members are also invited to join our confirmands and their parents in the viewing of the movie "The Case For Christ" immediately after lunch.  See Pastor Bobby or Pastor Randy for more details.

Don't you just love the way our altar is adorned with beautiful flowers each week?  You can help make those flowers possible by pledging to help underwrite a portion of the cost.  On the bulletin board in the narthex you'll find a "2012 Altar Flowers" sign-up sheet.  On that sheet you can pledge your support for a bouquet of altar flowers for the week(s) of your choice.  Each bouquet is only $10.50.  For more information, see Sharon Wetzel or any other member of the Worship Committee.

Church Council Treasurer June LeGuluche has announced that 2011 Giving Statements were mailed to members on January 15.  Please keep an eye out for this important mailing and place it somewhere safe since you'll probably want it handy as you begin to prepare your 2011 taxes.  Any questions, please see Ms. June!

January has five Sundays and in keeping with our new tradition, Good Shepherd will hold a Celebration Sunday on January 29.  We will have only one morning service that Sunday and it will be at 10:00 AM.  As in the past, this will be an all music service and there will be no preaching.

Our musical theme this time will be a survey of Christian music starting from the Protestant Reformation Era and coming forward all the way to Contemporary times.  Musical traditions represented will include German E&R, Congregational, Spirituals, Roots Music, Country Gospel and Contemporary Praise & Worship.

Mark your calendars now for this festive event and remember to bring a dish to share at the potluck to follow immediately after the service!

Pastor Gary Arndt, who retired from Good Shepherd in 2009, continues his battle with leukemia.  Please continue to hold Pastor Gary in your prayers.

The South Central Conference of the United Church of Christ released a statement asking that anyone who would like to assist in Gary's recovery may do so by donating blood at East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie or M.D. Anderson in Houston. When doing so, please specifically state that you would like your donation credited to the account of Gary Arndt.
